Sooner Told
2025

Exhibited in May 2025, as a part of the Loose Ends collective, as PINK, Stockport.
In “Sooner Told”, Harrison explores her own hesitation and uncomfortability surrounding difficult communication and challenging conversations – especially surrounding their own mental health and wellbeing. Continuing to use the bounds of the publication and unorthodox photographic print methods to dissect the way that the artist book can be used as an uncomfortable object, they create a physical embodiment of the struggles and challenges with anxiety that the artist faces.

“It’s not that I’m ashamed – I just can’t find the right words”

By creating chaotic and disturbed imagery, representing Harrison’s almost-daily reality, further pushing the image through screen-printing, she elevates the tactility commonplace found in the book, forcing the viewer to greater engage with the story Harrison strives to tell – one of self-protection and preservation, but familial love and care. This screen-printing, alongside a textured page, contrasts the “traditional” photobook, further challenging the role that the book holds as an art object.
