“You Cannot Speak In Poetry” a explores the reflection and recontextualization that one has to do when they get told they have a neurodevelopmental condition. Through exploration of the family archive, the universal chaos of growing up neurodivergent changes, a discovery that is difficult, but inherently beautiful.
This project stands as a starting point for a current, and still untitled body of work exploring Harrison’s lived experiences, using the form of the publication to challenge and question uncomfortability of communication, and the role of the artbook within this - utilizing the haptic experience, risograph printing, and drawing inspiration from the family photo album, Harrison presents a lovely retrospective of their childhood and upbringing, one of love and care.
